We Re-launched. And We Did It Exactly How We Tell Our Clients To.

Creative studios are brilliant at building brands for everyone else. And then quietly, behind the curtain, they're running on a Canva template, a logo knocked up in an afternoon, and a website that hasn't been touched since launch.
We've been guilty of it too. Not embarrassed to admit that.
But this year, we decided to stop. We relaunched Five Six Studio - properly - and we did it by following the exact same process we put every client through. No shortcuts. No "we'll fix it later". Every service. Every step.
Here's what that actually looked like.
00. The Purpose - Starting With Why, Not What.
Before anything gets designed or written or built, we ask clients one question: why does your brand exist?
Not "what do you sell" - that's easy. The harder question is what do you actually stand for, who are you for, and what would be missing if you weren't here?
We ran ourselves through the same thing. And it forced some honest conversations between me and Lexie about what Five Six actually is, not just what we wanted it to sound like.
The answer we landed on: we're a full creative team under one roof, built for founders who are sick of hiring five different freelancers and getting five different directions. We build brands with people - not for them. And we hand over the keys at the end.
That's our why. Everything else builds from it.
01. The Research - Know Your Landscape Before You Build In It.
We tell every client: don't start designing until you know what you're walking into. Who else is in this space? What are they saying? Where's the gap?
So we did our own research. Properly. We looked at how other brand strategy studios and creative agencies in the UK were positioning themselves - especially in the North. We looked at who our actual clients are, what they search for, what they're frustrated by, and what they wish existed.
What came back was clear. Founders are tired of agencies that hide their prices, over-promise on timelines, and disappear after delivery. They want transparency. They want a real team that talks like a human. They want to feel like partners, not clients.
That research shaped everything - the copy, the services, the new Build Your Own Package tool, all of it.
02. The Face - A Visual Identity Built to Last, Not to Follow.
Your visual identity is the thing people see before they hear you. It does a lot of heavy lifting before a single word gets read.
We knew ours needed to work harder. So we sharpened everything. The typography, the colour system, the way assets sit together. We went deep on what Five Six actually looks like - not what's trending, not what our favourite studios are doing - what's genuinely us.
The result is a visual identity that feels confident, Northern, a bit unconventional, and completely ours. Acid green. Clean type. Nothing borrowed.
It's the same thing we push clients on constantly: don't chase trends. Build something that still looks right in five years.
03. The Platform - Built to Earn Its Keep.
A website isn't a brochure. We say this to clients all the time. Your site has to work - it has to convert, communicate, and load quickly on a phone in a pub car park in North Yorkshire.
Our new site is built in Framer, and it was built with the same obsessive attention we give client builds. Scroll-driven animations. Clear service architecture. SEO-considered page structure. Real copy that sounds like us - not like a ChatGPT prompt for "professional creative studio."
And the thing we're most proud of: Build Your Own Package. A transparent, interactive tool that lets founders pick exactly what they need and see real pricing - no "get in touch for a quote", no mystery. Most agencies won't show you their prices. We will.
That's not just a feature. That's a values decision.
04. The Network - Showing Up. Consistently. On Brand.
Social media is not just posting. We say it every single time we onboard a new client. Strategy first. Then content. Then consistency. So we audited our own. What were we actually putting out? Was it on brand? Was it consistent? Was it saying anything useful?
Honestly, not always. We'd been posting when we had time, not when it made sense. So we built ourselves a proper content strategy - the same deliverable we produce for clients - and we started following it.
It's uncomfortable doing this for yourself. You second-guess everything. But that discomfort is useful - it's exactly what our clients feel, and going through it ourselves makes us better at guiding them through it.
05. Content - Your Brand Is Only As Good As How It Looks On Screen.
We offer content capture as a service because we genuinely believe it matters. Photography and video that feels like you - not borrowed stock, not filtered beyond recognition, not faked. For the relaunch, we shot new content for Five Six. Real spaces. Real people. Our actual team.
It made a visible difference immediately. The site feels alive in a way it didn't before. And it reminded us why we push clients so hard on this - because no amount of good design rescues bad imagery.
And Then There's Inkonography™
We can't talk about Five Six's relaunch without talking about Inkonography™ - our hand-drawn illustration service by Mai Lan.
It's not a style. It's not a filter. It's real ink, real skill, bespoke to each brand. And it's something no AI can replicate - which, in 2026, feels more important than ever to say out loud. We used it in our own brand identity this time around. Felt right. Practice what you preach and all that.
06. The Environment - Coming Soon.
We offer environmental design - physical spaces that feel exactly like your website does. Brand consistency that doesn't stop at the screen. Are we in a studio of our own yet? Not quite. But when we are, it'll be designed like one.
Why This Matters More Than a New Coat of Paint.
We didn't do this to show off. We did it because we can't look a founder in the eye and say "trust our process" if we haven't trusted it ourselves. Brand strategy isn't just a deliverable. It's a way of thinking about your business - who you're for, what you stand for, and how you show up everywhere. If you don't do it properly, it shows. And it shows fast. We've come out the other side of this relaunch with a brand we're proud of, a website that actually works, and a much clearer sense of what Five Six is for.
If you're a founder who knows your brand needs work but doesn't know where to start - start where we did. With purpose. Everything else follows.
